Transfăgărășan and Bâlea Lake

The mountain road Top Gear called the best in the world, climbing in hairpins to Bâlea Lake, a glacial lake at 2,034 metres. On the way up, the fortress of Făgăraș and the Brâncoveanu Monastery; on the way back, through Făgăraș again. The high road is usually open from July to October.
